A letter from Principal Becky Kennedy
Dear Families,
When I interviewed to become the principal of Our Lady of the Lake, our priest asked me what I believe the goal of Catholic education is. My answer, which has been placed on my office walls for the past decade, is to further the Kingdom of God. My mission is for our students to receive the best education possible while understanding the love God has for them. I want them to know how to share God’s love while drawing on their educational experience each and every day.
I want our students to know what it means to share in this grace throughout preschool, elementary, and middle school; when working their first job in high school; throughout their career, and when they’re rocking their grandchildren to sleep. I truly believe that we are providing our children with a foundation that will serve them for a lifetime.
We continue to build on the rich history here at OLL and maintain the culture of this gem of a school. Every person who walks into the building can see that this is a joyful place that nurtures the whole child as they grow in their confidence, faith in Jesus, and academic abilities.
My background is concentrated in math and special education. I understand how differentiated education can be incredibly beneficial for all children. At OLL, we recognize that every child is different and learns at a different pace. That is why our Blended Learning model is such an incredible success. Our children are able to learn at their own pace while building the confidence necessary to try new things. Some will move faster and others will move slower. That’s the beauty of Blended Learning. The goal is that everyone moves forward in an environment where they feel successful, confident, safe, and loved.
We start the school year by telling students that we have high standards for them. I am a firm believer in setting goals. As a school, we set goals and work together with teachers, students, and parents to reach them. When students meet and exceed those goals, we celebrate their hard work and achievements, helping them to gain confidence and positive academic habits.
We are committed to the success of each student and the growth of this wonderful school. Together, let’s listen to each other, honor opinions, and work toward advancing forward, as one unified OLL family.
We are doing God’s work. I feel so blessed for the opportunity to be with you on this journey. Thank you for partnering with us in the education of your children.
Praising, Working, Loving,
Becky Kennedy, Principal
